How Tar River Cooling Desk works
Tar River Cooling Desk connects Greenville and Pitt County households, owners and renters alike, with an HVAC company. It costs you nothing, and it isn't a contractor itself. Your request goes to one independent company that works your part of the county; that company phones you, quotes the job and books it.
Who pays us
The contractor does, as a fee for the referral. Nothing is ever billed to you by us. We don't touch the equipment, and the price you're quoted is set by the company alone.
Who we refer you to
In North Carolina, installing or replacing an outdoor condensing unit or an air handler is heating contracting under G.S. 87-21, and it takes a heating license from the state licensing board. Home systems fall under Heating Group 3. We only work with companies that hold that license. You can look up any contractor's license yourself at nclicensing.org, and we suggest you do.
What we ask of the company
A price before any work starts, a permit when the job needs one, and no pressure. If your experience falls short of that, tell us at (252) 390-2424.
Where the numbers come from
Guides end with a list of their sources. The muggy-night counts and the housing figures we computed ourselves, from the Greenville NOAA station's daily record and Census ACS tables for Pitt County. See the method.
